Welcome to the intro course!
In this course I give you some basics on working with your thoughts to create a better experience. This video outlines how it’s all going to work!

The Work
There are two questions to ponder from this video:
Why are you here? What made you sign up for this course? Get clear on what it is you want to change.
What will life be like if you make this shift? What will be different? Paint a picture of where you want to go!

Video 2 - The Foundation
Today we talk about the foundation of the program! in this video I am giving you an overview of thoughts, emotions, and our experience. Here’s a summary:
Thinking creates our experience
Your experience comes from the inside - not from the outside!
There are ways you can work with your thinking to change your experience
And digging into those ways of working with your thinking is what we’ll be doing in this course!
The Work
Rate where you’re at with your thinking about what you’re trying to change:
On a scale from 1-10, with 1 being horrible and 10 being the best possible, rate your thinking about what you want to change and how it makes you feel.
Consider what I talk about in the video. Could it be true?
Does it make sense to you that your thinking creates your experience?
What is your reaction to this?
Let these ideas roll around in your head for a while and pay attention to how things can look different to you!
Video 3 - The Present
What’s happening now? We spend a lot of time thinking and focusing on the past and the future - but what does right now look like? In this video I outline some ideas around the present, and why being aware of what you’re thinking is a big deal. You’ll learn:
Why you have an untapped source of power to shift the way you feel
What being aware of your thoughts will get you
Why you shouldn’t drive to the mall with your eyes closed
Once you start to see this, you start to become more aware of your thinking, you become much more aware of how things can be different for you!
The Work
Thinking/Feeling Alarm:Every couple hours, whatever you want. Note on timer. Just answer it. And that’s all. We’re trying to increase your level of awareness of what’s going on in your mind.
Look for Thoughts about Change: What are the thoughts about the thing you want to change? When you see those comes up, note them. How do you think about that thing you want to change - is it insurmountable? Impossible? Get clear on what those thoughts are as they come up.

Video 4 - The Past
Let’s talk about the past! We can spend so much time in the past - and while it can be fun to look back at memories, it can create a whole bunch of pain as well. In this video I talk about how thinking about the past - and in particular dwelling on and feeling the feelings of the past - can hold you back in the present. In this video you’ll see:
Why focusing on the past can create a lot of negative emotions
What it means to take the lessons of the past and leave the rest behind
Where the past exists (if it even does!)
The Work
Once you’ve watched the video, work through these questions:
How much time am I spending in the past?
What am I focusing on when I think about the past?
How does that make me feel?
What can I take with me as a lesson - and how can I let go of the rest?
Getting clear on this can make a huge difference on your journey!
Video 5 - The Future
Future time! Just like the past, we spend a LOT of time in the future! And also just like the past, we can end up in a place where we create a lot of pain for ourselves. We create a future in our minds, and in doing so we start to actually feel what that future would be like. We have a lot of power! In this video you’ll learn:
How much power we have to create a future (even on that feels bad!)
Why spending time in the future leads to anxiety
Why humans have a negativity bias
The Work
Once you’ve watched the video, try out the exercise when you find yourself spinning on the future:
Step One: Get clear on what’s real. Ask yourself:
What do I know as a fact?
What’s right in front of me?
What’s real?
Step Two: Get clear on the thoughts you’re having:
What am I thinking about right now?
How does that feel?
Step Three: Shift your focus.
Focus on other things that are real and in the present - a book, a movie, another person - whatever you need to do to shift your focus!
Video 6 - Putting it All Together
Thank you for taking this course! I really hope you got a lot out of it - and that you see ways to shift now that weren’t obvious to you before.
